Gamers who like to tweak airflow and temperature systems for high performance PC should set their hands on Sentry LXE. For $59.99, this external fan controller with an intuitive touchscreen allows users to control settings with ease. The temperatures, RPMs, and date/time/day of week are shown on the LCD display. Built-in sensors monitor the temperature automatically while the controllers adjust the fans’ speed. An alarm will be triggered if the temperature reaches a specified level.
Users can also adjust the speed of the fans individually or switch them off for complete silence. The fan controller can be connected to a computer through PCI card interface. Its stylish aluminum frame can complement any desktop.

The speakers on laptop computers are usually not very loud. There are some laptops out there that have good speakers and can put out some good volume but most consumer laptops are lacking in this area. This doesn’t mean that all hope is lost! There is still a way for you to increase the volume of your laptop a little more.
Best Ways to Increase Sound & Volume in Laptops
1) Optimize Equalizer Setting in your Media Player, VLC etc
- Windows Media Player – Make minor adjustments in the sound output quality using the graphic equalizer. Similar to where you change wmp skins.
- To turn on the graphic equalizer in Windows Media Player, go to the “view” menu and choose “Enhancements” and then choose “Graphic Equalizer”
- Move each of the sliders up to boost the volume as in the image below:
- Using VLC Media Player – VLC is the best player for laptops. VLC is one, if not the, best media player ever created. It is lightweight, portable, and can play almost any media format even videos downloaded from Youtube. VLC doesn’t require external, extra codecs to run. (Get VLC)
Do you know that you can increase the volume in your VLC player to 400% of its actual volume.
- Hold CTRL+ and Keep Pressing the [UP] Key on your Keyboard. You would see an icon on the top right corner of your VLC player
- The icon would increase from 100% to 200% to… 400% and increase the volume on your player.
Generally this is quite enough to increase the laptop’s volume to the max. If want to increase the sound quality of the laptop speakers still more then use the equalizer settings.
- Click Extended Settings
- Use the Equalizer and Set it to “SKA”. (Use “SKA” for Movies & “Full Bass & Treble” for Songs)
This will ensure the max. audio optimization. These settings are sure to increase laptop volume & sound quality to a large extent.
2) Using Paper Cups to Increase Laptop Volume
- Take two Paper or Polystyrene cups. The Taller the better. Best is the 450ml Pespi Glass.
- Cut out circles in the bottom in an angular plane, large enough to cover the Laptop Speakers.
- Tape them over the laptop speakers, such that that the wider top faces you. I use clay as tape make the setup messy.
- Enjoy the better sound
3) Buy USB External Speakers to Improve Laptop Sound Quality
There are cheap external USB speakers available in the market. Buy a slim type so that you can carry it easily in the laptop bag. These cost around 1500 or less. And I think you should buy It if you think the above steps are complicated.
So, these are some of the things I do to increase my laptop volume. These tips if followed properly will surely improve your laptop’s sound quality.
One can also use a software to improve mp3 sound for better audio quality in laptops.
The latest version of VLC supports network streaming which means you can download youtube directly into VLC media player and watch it or record it. Sometimes this also helps if youtube is blocked in your network but you have the link to the video.Stream Play Youtube Videos in VLC
- Open VLC Media Player (download vlc).
Go to Media > Open Network Stream.
Paste the Link of any online video, For eg: I am using Chris Brown – Forever
- Click on the Play button.
Now you can watch the video inside VLC itself

Advantage : Record Youtube Videos in VLC by Network Stream
There is only one advantage of this method and ie, to download or save the streaming video in any format of our choice.
1. In the Open Network Stream page Click on the down arrow of the Play Button.
2. Select Convert. (see pic. right)
3. Add your desired Settings in the window as below.
After the streaming is complete you will get the full video saved in format you set.
This way, you don’t have to use any online youtube downloader, or install any app. to convert youtube videos to your required output. Enjoy !

Unhide Facebook Notifications, Status Updates in News Feed

Previously, in post about enhancing facebook user performance we mentioned that one could hide status updates from friends or applications they disliked. But, in case you want them back here is a quick guide to unhide status updates, notifications of friends and apps. in the news feed (home page).
Unhide Previously Hidden News Feed Status Updates from Friends, Apps
- On the Home page, scroll Down to the very bottom of the page and click Edit Options.
- Select Either Friends, Pages, or Applications from the top of the list.
- Locate the Friend, Page or Application that you wish to unhide and click the associated Add To News Feed button.
- Click the Close button.
Now, you will be able to unhide the status messages you were missing out from your news feed.

TimeComX is a small and portable award winning automation utility, that can execute various actions after specified time or by a lower deviation of network/processor usage and input device activity. Its resource friendly and easy to operate but also powerful.

Did you spill water on laptop keyboard, keys not working ? Well this happens to most of us when we are tempted to down a soda, water, coffee, or other liquid while typing away at our keyboard and ultimately paying the price for it. But here is a complete guide to fix laptop liquid spills.
Fixing Laptop Liquid Spills
#1 Act Fast – Shut Down! – Instead of panicking and cursing yourself, immediately remove the battery, the A/C adapter, and unplug the device after the spill. The biggest danger at first is the device shorting out.
#2 Keep Yourself Ready – The best way to avoid any damage from laptop liquid spill damage is by keeping yourself ready. Make sure you have the following items nearby. – Paper towels, cotton swabs, ear buds, Towels etc.
#3 Turn your Laptop – Turn it to drain out excess water (see video). If its any other liquid, take a second to assess the location and quantity of the spill. If it’s just a few drops on a keyboard, you might be able to get away with prying off the surrounding keys and wiping down the affected area. Use alcohol swabs, which break up stains and dry very quickly.
If the spill doesn’t appear to be limited to the surface of the keys and the parts below them, then scrub up—it’s time for surgery. (Follow Step 4 before)
#4 Let it Dry - Be completely sure that the parts are dry before you proceed. As with rinsing, there are different theories on drying:
- Dry naturally. Prop the machine up, away from surfaces, so that air can circulate in and around the entire unit. Leave the machine to dry for 24 to 48 hours.
- Dry with light heat. Place your deck on a warm radiator or on top of a warm sill or shelf – out of direct sunlight – or near other source of warmth. Do not use high levels of heat, just moderately warm sources of heat. Let it dry for 12 hours, or so. A nearby dehumidifier may improve drying time. High heat will drive moisture and humidity further into the device and will ensure ongoing problems as that moisture causes oxidation and corrosion.
#5 Take it Apart – Using your tiny screwdriver open up the device. Obviously there’s no one-size-fits-all guide for taking apart gadgets, but here are a few guidelines to follow:
- You may need to use some force to pry apart your device, but be careful, especially with circuit boards. If something seems to be taking more force to pull apart than it should, check again for hidden screws.
- Be careful to save all your screws as you go. Don’t just throw them all into a coffee mug, either, because most gadgets have several different-size screws in them, and you’ll need to remember which goes where when you put everything back together.
- If something is particularly complicated, and you’re afraid you won’t be able to put it back when you’re done, grab a digital camera and snap some photos before you start taking stuff apart.
- Your ultimate goal is to expose any circuit boards or other electronics that might have gotten spilled on. If you’re taking apart a laptop, this means you’ll need to isolate the motherboard.

#6 Clean It Off – Once you’ve exposed the circuitry in your device, you’ll have to clean off the stain. If you can see that the stain is contained in a certain part of the board, you can use alcohol swabs, as described above, to clean it off. If an entire circuit board is soiled, you’ll need to resort to more drastic measures: completely disconnect it from the rest of the gadget and run it under soapy water.
Wipe off everything with towels, swabs and ear buds. Dry them off completely (Step 5 again). Put back everything together and hope for some luck. All the Best !!
